Rethink What Is Possible
Recently I asked my followers on Twitter a question: “What is a heretical thought you have today that you are sure will be mainstream in the future and why?”
When I use the word ‘heresy,’ I mean ideas that challenge the status quo. Often these ideas can create positive change.
You may already know that Nicholas Copernicus (astronomer born in Poland in 1473) was considered a heretic by some because he maintained that the sun was the center of our solar system and not Earth. This idea is known as a heliocentric (meaning “sun-centered”) system. Galileo was also accused of heresy for his agreement with Copernicus, and he must have had better marketing people because he tends to get most of the credit for the idea.
Today, with the advances in quantum physics, we are challenged to re-think the use of such words as ‘heliocentric’ because if the universe spreads out in all directions (as Einstein said) you are the center, and I am the center, and each individual is the center of the universe. If this idea is interesting to you, I suggest you pick up a copy of Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time.”
So today I challenge you to think of ideas that may go against what is considered normal in society. I am not talking about abuses of power here, but of ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately empower people to do things that were once considered impossible.
Is it possible to connect cities with Hyperloop transit so that people and items that need to be transported can move at 700 miles per hour and arrive safely? That’s just one of the ideas, which some may say is heretical, that you can explore on my website. There are many other futuristic ideas I’d like to share with you.
